EAP Admission Criteria
To determine the level of services appropriate to the needs of the client.
Issue is not DSM-IV related.
For example, issues related to stress management, financial problems,etc.
Focal issue can be resolved with a brief therapy model (average sessions4-5).
OR
Issue DSM IV related.
Diagnosis is a V code or Adjustment Disorder.
Level of Stability
Risk to self, others, or property is rated none to moderate.
Adequate support system.
Client’s issue requires no medical supervision.
Client has the capacity for active participation in treatment.
Solution to one focal conflict is main therapeutic issue.
Intensity of Service
Focal issue can be resolved in less that 10sessions.
Care can be completed in less that 6 months.
Client can assume therapeutic contract responsibility.
A little to moderate symptoms (e.g., depressed mood and mild insomnia), or some difficulty in social, occupational, or school functioning (e.g., occasional truancy, or theft within the household), but generally functioning is adequate, has some meaningful interpersonal relationships.
The client should be referred to an appropriate resource for any issue that exceeds these criteria.
