Clinical Practice Guidelines Depression | ADHD | AWS Clinical Practice Guidelines are published by national organizations and distributed to providers to incorporate into their clinical practice. CONCERN has developed Clinical Practice Guidelines, which have been improved through feedback received from members and providers. We developed these guidelines to improve quality of care by decreasing treatment variability. Due to the prevalence of adults diagnosed with depression, CONCERN and a managed care organization formed a partnership to educate and monitor treatment provided by psychiatrists and primary care physicians. The Depression Guideline, based on the Clinical Practice Guideline for Major Depressive Disorder published by the American Psychiatric Association, is part of that education effort. The guideline was distributed to network providers and is found in the Provider Manual. The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Guideline was developed in response to the prevalence of this diagnosis in the member population. It was adapted from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), distributed to the provider network and incorporated into the provider manual. The Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome (AWS) Guideline was derived from the nationally known Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment and provides a safe protocol for detoxification withdrawal. We have successfully utilized this protocol at the TriHealth Alcohol and Drug Program and have shared it with other facilities in our managed care network.
